Farm ownership models are changing

Is it DEMOGRAPHICS – Average age of farmers is approaching 60 plus.

Is it ECONOMY TO SCALE – Farms are getting larger to reduce fixed costs and to combat inflationary input costs.

Is it CONSERVATION PRACTICES and ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT – Adoption of new farming practices increases technology acceptance and a round of new incentives.

ALL OF THE ABOVE

HOW – About 1% of the world’s population feeds the world (An exclusive club with huge responsibilities)

WHY – The global nature of our food systems is trying to feed the world with a tighter commodity supply

Food is a non-discretionary commodity and we all have to eat to survive.

CANADA is well positioned to feed the world and as a country; we have so much more to offer.

I look forward to next week when I'll be talking about Seeding and Calvin are now fully underway...
